NetRouteView is a new utility that can be used as alternative to the standard route utility (Route.exe) of Windows operating system. It displays the list of all routes on your current network, including the destination, mask, gateway, interface IP address, metric value, type, protocol, age (in seconds), interface name, and the MAC address.
It also allows you to modify, delete, and add new routes to your network adapters.

I just downloaded this utility and tried to use it on my laptop with Windows Server 2003 R2 English Enterprise Edition 32 bit, but it did not work, at least for me. When I say that I want to add a route, it appears a window into which I put data, but then the route is not kept, neither in this utility nor in the route print command. I do not get any error message.
*** Right now, while I am writing this, I found the issue. I was trying to specify, as the gateway, an address of my own machine. Is it possible to add a check to issue a warning about this and any other errors? Or at least to display a message if the route cannot be added?
Also, I would like to suggest a couple of improvements. First, is it possible to add a check box to specify if the route must be persistent? Also, I would like to be able to specify the mask also as the number of bits. And I would like to be able to specify the network gateway using also the listing of those already existing.
And an generic improvement for all Your utilities. I would like to be able to auto size columns but considering also column titles. Right now, if a title is larger that the column content, it is truncated.
Thank You very much

I would like to suggest some improvements for this utility.
1) It should display a message if a route cannot be added. I made a mistake and I specified, as the gateway, the ip address of my own laptop. The route was not added, but there was not any warning either.
2) I have been able to specify, as the address and as the mask, wrong numbers such as 444.444.444.444! Then in the route they were all 0, but in this case also there was not a warning.
3) I would like to be able to specify the mask also as the number of bits.
4) I would like to be able to specify that a route must be persistent.
5) I would like to be able to select, as the gateway, one of the existing ones, in addition to tiping its ip address.
And an improvements that You might want to introduce in all Your utilities. When I auto size column, I would like to consider also the column titles. Right now, if a title is larger than the column, it is truncated with “…”.
Thank You very much

This tool is a great idea and really handy. But I agree that errors should be shown instead of silently discarded.
When I tried to modify one of the “Indirect” routes to 0.0.0.0, it wasn’t doing anything. Finally figured out to add a new route and then delete the old one.
